A Beginning Full of Hope (and chaos)

If you’re reading this, thank you — truly.
Today I’m officially announcing the launch of Boulderwood Animal Sanctuary’s first fundraiser, and saying that feels both exciting and surreal. This little sanctuary idea started as a whisper — a dream born from compassion, heartbreak, healing, and a stubborn belief that animals deserve safety, dignity, and kindness.
For years, I’ve helped animals quietly — first with domestic exotics like rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small companions who often slip through the cracks. And for the last seven years, my focus has been wildlife rehabilitation — helping injured and orphaned wild animals return to the homes nature intended for them. That work has shaped me, grounded me, and honestly — healed me in ways I never expected.
But over time, something in me shifted.
I began to see the growing number of animals being surrendered, dumped, rehomed, or simply forgotten — not because people don’t care, but because life is hard. Costs rise. Circumstances change. Sometimes people are struggling too, and animals become collateral damage in the aftermath.
I realized I needed to expand my empathy and my impact.
That is how Boulderwood came to life — not just as a sanctuary for animals, but as a space where people and animals can heal side by side. A place where discarded or overlooked animals get another chance, and where humans who feel broken, overwhelmed, or unseen can reconnect with compassion, nature, and themselves.
Boulderwood exists because the need is bigger than one person’s garage, one person’s resources, or one quiet effort at a time — and because healing is something we do together.
Not just to rescue and rehabilitate animals — but to create a place of:
🌾 Safety🪶 Healing💛 Connection🌱 Education💫 Second chances
A sanctuary not only for animals... but for people too.
Why This Fundraiser Matters
Right now, the sanctuary is in its building phase — fencing, winter shelters, feed storage, vet care funding, permitting, emergency intake support — all of it requires resources.
Every dollar given will directly support:
✔ feed & hay
✔ veterinary care
✔ safe housing & enclosures
✔ intake supplies for both domestic rescues and wildlife
✔ emergency rescue response
✔ infrastructure to expand future capacity
No paid staff. No fluff. Just the work — done with intention and transparency.
How You Can Help
If you feel called to support — whether with $5 or $500 — please know this:
💚 It matters.
💚 It goes directly to the animals.
💚 It builds something real.
💚 It means we can say "yes" when an animal needs us instead of "we don't have the resources."
If you can’t donate, please share this post. Tell a friend. Talk about us. Spread the mission.
Support isn't always financial — sometimes it’s simply making sure the right people see our story.
A Final, Honest Note
Launching this fundraiser is vulnerable. Asking for help isn’t easy.
But animals can’t ask — so I’m choosing to be their voice.
Thank you for being here.Thank you for believing in this mission.
Thank you for helping us grow something good in a world that deeply needs it.
Here’s to the beginning. 🐾
With gratitude,Elisha @ Boulderwood Sanctuary
